Mental Health Medications during Treatment
A one-liner headline can go here.
In general, early sobriety is not an appropriate time to start or stop mental health medications. The brain in early sobriety has been shown to exhibit diminished dopamine levels which will normalize with time. There is no medication which will speed this process. For this reason, our focus is on helping patients achieve “time” in sobriety to allow brain recovery.
That being said, many of our patients have co-occurring mental health conditions. We look at their mediations at the time of admission. Addictive medications are stopped (often requiring detox), but most patients can remain on their regular medications through treatment.
In cases where a change must be made, our providers can do so, or we can work with your mental health provider to adjust your medication.
